All My Children and One Life To Live actors keep the fans engaged

It has been said that there is no more loyal fan than a soap fan.  Apparently there is no more loyal actor than a soap actor. My reason for stating this is that so many actors from All My Children and One Life To Live have made themselves accessible to fans using the Internet.  My personal favorite (and secret crush) is Cady McClain - Dixie Martin from All My Children.  Man is she looking amazing!

Cady not only tweets regularly, she maintains a blog which she updates regularly (http://cadymcclain.com), she has an alter-ego Suzy F*cking Homemaker face book page, and posts videos on YouTube.  Another favorite of mine is Jill Larson who is also very active on Twitter.

Over the last few years, the Internet has redefined how the entertainment medium works and how fans consume entertainment.  Now my shows are released on the Internet rather than on broadcast or cable television.  Now I can stream Internet to my television thanks to my Roku, or I can watch on my cell phone using the pay service Hulu Plus, or I can watch the free Hulu and watch on my PC.  So many choices - all up to me and what works best for me.   Additionally, I can now communicate with my favorite actors on facebook and twitter. I cant tell you how excited it made me to be retweeted by Cady McClain herself!

In the weeks leading up to the much anticipated premier of All My Children and One Life To Live on April 29th, 2013, Prospect Park released photos of actors holding a sign with the number of days until the relaunch of both shows.  YouTube videos were released showing behind the scenes preparations for the two shows, showing off new sets, introducing us to some of the new actors.  We had an insight into the secret behind the scenes world.

I personally believe that those who rang the death knell for soaps did not have the vision to see that adjustments were necessary but that it was possible to breath new life into the soap medium by determining how to best connect with fans.  Prospect Park and the actors of All My Children and One Life To Live are doing an excellent job and I hope to see that continue.
