I'm so excited after having watched today's All My Children. Just one short week ago, the show premiered online after a two year hiatus. Today's episode knocked one out of the ball park. I haven't been this impressed with an episode of All My Children in years. This is the storytelling I fell in love with back in the early 80's. All of the acting was exceptional. The scene between Miranda and AJ felt genuine, not cringe-worthy the way teen stories can sometimes come across. I was very impressed with Denyse Tontz's emotional scenes today. Ms. Tontz is proving herself worthy of representing a Kane woman.
Here's a synopsis of today's show:
Jessie pushed Zack for details about the Russian mafia that have kidnapped Cassandra. Zach explained that these guys do not mess around - they mean business. Fear shows on Jessie's face - he realizes he is running out of time to find Cassandra before he has to tell Angie that Cassandra is missing.
Angie spoke with Cara to inform her that David is back in town. Cara wondered at Angie's ability to forgive David, but expressed that she is unwilling to do so. Angie urged Cara to speak with David in order to give him closure about the loss of his child. Later, Cara takes a phone call and explains that as much as it breaks her heart to do so, she has to stay in Pine Valley right now.
Bianca stumbles upon Zach and the two catch up. It's
clear that Zach is not over Kendall and he states he wishes he could
have been the one to make Kendall happy.
Miranda finds a bench, sits down and cries while AJ tussles with Hunter. The coffee shop owner, Jane, finds a smart phone and realizes Hunter's plot to humiliate Miranda online. Jane threatens the teens in her shop - if anyone posts the video online, Jane will permanently ban them from the coffee shop, and notify the police of an attempt to corrupt a minor.
Miranda is still crying when AJ finds her. AJ comforts Miranda, and even lightens the mood by reminding Miranda of a painful and humiliating situation AJ had gone through. Miranda explains she is tired of hearing people talk behind her back and point fingers at her - the stigma attached to her mother's lesbianism is too much for Miranda.
Miranda goes back to AJ's place and decides to stay in his room overnight with AJ (as they have apparently done before). Miranda rips apart the blouse she had been so excited to wear on her first date. Inside the coffee shop, Jane
reveals to Bianca what took place between Hunter and Miranda. When Bianca shows up, AJ gives the two some space.
Bianca is shocked and hurt to find out Miranda's true feelings. Miranda claims that Bianca is "In their face about how proud you are to be gay and they have to accept it. ...Did you ever give a shit about all the people it was going to affect?" Bianca, nearly in tears, excuses herself before either one of them says something they will regret.
Celia and Pete enjoy their first date together, even if Celia has been unable to relax since she snuck out of Bramwell Hall. Celia reveals that her parents both died in a car accident when she was a child. She has one picture of each she carries in her locket charms. When she notices one of the locket charms is missing, Pete explains he found it and it is safe. He will bring it to their second date. Celia seems pleased that there will be a second date.
Zach meets with a young man who appears very
frightened due to the questions Zach is asking. The young man alludes
to human trafficking, but is too afraid to reveal anything else.
Inside JR's hospital room, Dixie finds David with his hands around JR's neck. David tries to explain that he saw JR move - and not an involuntary movement. He was taking JR's pulse when Dixie walked in. Dixie doesn't believe David and she screams for help. Dixie phones Jessie and asks Jessie for help. When Jessie explains he's tied up with something important, Dixie pressures Jessie, stating if Tad was there, Tad would want no one other than Jessie to handle this.
Jessie finds Dixie and David arguing in the hall at the hospital where he threatens to arrest David for parole violation. Angie comes out of JR's room and asks for quiet so she can finish her exam. When she finishes the exam, Angie promises that David will not go near JR again. No one seems to understand why she has a soft spot for David but Angie reveals "We've all done things we wish we could go back and undo." David asks Angie if she believes David was trying to harm JR, and she says no. David explains that Angie's faith in him gives him hope for redemption. Angie doesn't seem convinced. David insists that JR's movement was not an involuntary reflex.
Alone in his hospital room, JR opens his eyes.
